Step 1: Set Up a New Email Address
Create a free email account with a trusted provider such as:
Tip: Choose a name that’s easy to remember and update your contacts and accounts with your new address.
Step 2: Back Up or Export Your Existing Emails
You can transfer your existing emails to your new account using a method called POP (Post Office Protocol). This allows your new provider to download your messages from your current inbox.
Here’s how:
For Outlook:
Export Emails from POP Account:
Open Outlook and go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
Choose Export to a file and click Next.
Select Outlook Data File (.pst) and click Next.
Choose the account you want to export, ensure Include subfolders is checked, and click Next.
Choose a location to save the file and click Finish.
Import Emails to New Account:
Open Outlook and go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
Choose Import from another program or file and click Next.
Select Outlook Data File (.pst) and click Next.
Browse to the .pst file you exported, select it, and click Next.
Choose the folder to import to and click Finish.
For Gmail:
Enable POP in Gmail:
Open Gmail and go to Settings.
Click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
In the "POP download" section, select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
Click Save Changes.
Add POP Account to Gmail:
Go to Settings > Accounts and Import.
Under "Check mail from other accounts," click Add a mail account.
Enter your email address and click Next.
Select Import emails from my other account (POP3) and click Next.
Enter your username, password, POP server, and port. Check the options as needed (e.g., leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server).
Click Add Account.
Send Mail As Your POP Account (Optional):
After adding the account, you can choose to send mail as your POP account.
Enter your name and click Next Step.
Enter the SMTP server, username, password, and port.
Click Add Account and verify the setup.
Step 3: Transition Before June 30th
Please make sure to:
- Notify your contacts of your new email address
- Update your login info on any online accounts tied to your Highline email
- Complete your email export or backup before June 30, 2025
